Art Therapy for Mental Health

You have most likely heard of talk therapy for Mental Health… however have you heard of ART THERAPY?

In this episode of me&my health up we speak with Megan VanMeter who specialises in Art Therapy. We discuss the what, and the how Art Therapy supports our Mental Health.

About Megan VanMeter

Megan is a board-certified registered Art Therapist and Licensed Mental Health Professional. From her personal experience Megan knows burnout from working in behavioral health, correctional, educational, medical, and social services settings.  She also knows the special kinds of burnout that come from being a caregiver and a target of workplace bullying.  Asking for help was hard, but my future depended on it. Megan had to create a future for herself out of the darkness.

Megan says “creating is an active process.  Talking about the future won’t create it, and you can’t talk about things you can’t put into words–like the full-body experience of burnout, or the full-body experience of marginalization, which leaves you apt to succumb to burnout faster than your non-marginalized peers.  I became an art therapist to help you create a better outcome for yourself using your very own eyes and hands and the full-body wisdom they’re connected to.  You already have everything it takes to glow beyond this dark moment.  All you need is someone to share their light with you while you create your masterpiece, and I’d love to be that someone.”
